Borrego Health and ConsejoSano Partner To Increase Effectiveness of My Vote. My Health. Outreach Program

Borrego Health, one of the largest FQHCs in the United States, will educate 50,000 patients via SMS and other modalities about using mail-in ballots to avoid COVID exposure

 

NORTH HOLLYWOOD, CA (October 6, 2020): Borrego Health, a Federally Qualified Health Center non-profit organization with community health centers in Southern California, has joined forces with ConsejoSano, a patient experience and engagement solution, to provide patients with critical COVID-related voter safety information via SMS.

The My Vote. My Health. initiative is a civic engagement program dedicated to increasing voting rates and census participation among underserved communities across California, utilizing FQHCs as community hubs through which to deliver educational content.

“We know that many of the patients we serve are actually passionate about not just their local communities, but also state and national issues. We are excited to participate in the My Health. My Vote. program so that our patients will have the opportunity to be active in their communities, but to do it safely,” said Borrego Health CEO Mikia Wallis, “We reached out to ConsejoSano for partnership to make the program more effective. Borrego Health patients will receive text messages educating them about how mail-in ballots are a safe way to vote, as well as walking them through voter registration and ballot requests. Beyond texting, patients will receive printed materials and see reminders of key deadlines on posters hung throughout the clinics.
